Classes
LSSD is equipped with spacious studios, professional dance flooring, viewing windows, comfortable waiting areas and a play area for siblings. Both locations also have large parking areas and are conveniently located within walking distance of several eateries and shops. Studio 1 & 2 offer a comprehensive program of dance classes for ages 2 to adult. Classical training, contemporary style and proper technique is provided in the following areas of dance.
Me & Mini Me
Ages 2-3
This class is designed for a parent or guardian to accompany dancers. and assist them as they learn basic stretching, primary ballet positions and steps and explore creative movement
Tiny Stars
Ages 3-4
A “preschool” dance class offered for 3-4 year olds just starting out in the world of dance! This class will introduce students to some basics of ballet, stretching, and creative movement.
Combo Classes
Ages 4-5
Our combo classes are offered for children ages 4-5 years. We offer Tap/Ballet or Ballet/Acro.
Ballet
All Ages 6-18
A great class for all levels. Develop the fundamentals of dance through control, poise, precision, fluency and grace using the technique and style of ballet.
Tap
Ages 6-18
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. Two major variations on tap dance exist: rhythm tap and Broadway tap. Broadway tap focuses on dance; it is widely performed in musical theater.
Jazz
All Ages 6-18
Jazz technique is based on the natural movement of the body and is designed to increase body control and coordination. Routines are set to modern and contemporary music.
Acro
All Ages 6-18
Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its unique choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context. Acro dance is known by various other names including acrobatic dance and gymnastic dance, though it is most commonly referred to simply as acro by dancers and dance professionals..
Musical Theater
All Ages 6-18
A style of dance used to portray the emotional content of a piece of music from a play or film. Most musical theater dance is based on jazz techniques.
Lyrical
All Ages 6-18
Lyrical dance is a style that combines elements of Ballet, Modern, and Jazz techniques. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars. The name lyrical comes from the word “lyrics” because dancers use the lyrics of a song or instrumental music to inspire them to do certain movements or show expression and interpret the music through movement.
Open Tumbling
All Ages 6-18
A class for students with Acrobatic and Tumbling ability to come in and work on skills to their own level. This class also utilizes conditioning and drills to help the student gain strength and flexibility in order to be a better tumbler and acrobat.
Hip-Hop
Ages 7-18
Hip hop dance is a range of street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip hop culture. It is influenced by a wide range of styles that were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.
Contemporary
Ages 11-18
Contemporary dance is a genre of dance performance that developed during the mid-twentieth century and has since grown to become one of the dominant genres for formally trained dancers throughout the world, with particularly strong popularity in the U.S. and Europe. It combines elements of lyrical, ballet, modern and jazz.
